Celebrating
60 years of Freedom
The
Island of Jersey, and the Bailiwick of Guernsey, celebrated 60 years of
peace and freedom from occupation during the
Second World War on 9th May 2005.
To mark this
historic event, amateurs in Jersey used GJ60LIB and those in
Guernsey used the callsign GU60LIB . The callsigns were
valid for the
month of May, with particular emphasis on the 9th itself
(Liberation Day).
The QSL information is via via GJ3XZE for GJ60LIB and GU3HFN for
GU60LIB .
Foundation
Licence Training
Course.
The New way into Amateur Radio as a
licensed operator is by taking a Foundation training course.
The course runs over five
consecutive Saturday mornings, or a weekday evening if that is more
convenient.
The course consists of a
number of fundamental theories and techniques, sufficient to ensure
that you have an appreciation for the hobby. There is NO heavy
theory! Also there are a number of practical aspects such as how
to tune an antenna, actually having several contacts on the short wave
bands with real radio amateurs and a very brief introduction to the
world of Morse code.
If
you
would like to participate in a foundation course, or receive further
information please email Phil Taylor
at the address below so that a course can be
scheduled.
If you have any news items for
inclusion, please email them to
